Career Highlights (video links in blue)
Students Contribute to MakerFest
Giving students an opportunity to highlight their work outside school by submitting their work to a Maker Fest helped students see how they can contribute to society. You will see three different presentation styles they chose to highlight their work. Our part of the Fest starts at 1:27:50.
NEON Immersive Experience, Vid. & 360
Experience Art in video OR 360 degrees:: It was exciting to have my Art students create a NEON Immersive Experience by creating artworks with a variety of UV-reactive art mediums and installed it in a walk-in display case with ultraviolet lighting. The experience was complete with techno music (I asked the Music Teacher for recommendations), and it really went well with the “experience”.
21st Century Skills
Making the Most of the iPad - Middle & High School ::
This lesson plan demonstrates my ability to go deeper into the material, yet maintain a simple and clean structure.
Inner and Outer Beautification
Student-Lead Art Installations - Middle School ::
I introduced sculpting and drawing objectives for projects involving sculpting architectural capitals and drawing in the style of Modern Art. The creative process was owned by the students which heightened the pride of their contribution to their school.
Professional/Community Collaborations
Neuroscience Mural- Middle & High School ::
Utilizing local professionals is intellectual capital and helps to raise student awareness of possibilities in the world. See it covered on Penn Center for Neuroscience & Society's Website: http://www.neuroethics.upenn.edu/ and for more detail, see: https://vimeo.com/125770852 .
Green Space Making
Reimagining our School in Model Form- Elementary School ::
We used Google Earth on the iPad to make a 3D model of the school, brainstormed innovative ideas to draw in the community, then made the renovations come true in model form!
Multicultural Exhibitions
Multi-Cultural Exhibition - Elementary & Middle School ::
750+ new art students met a challenge to exhibit art inspired from various cultural traditions in three class sessions. Another multicultural art exhibition video may be viewed here: https://www.magisto.com/album/video/eyFwQQVNFAQtNTIEDmEwCXt2?l=vsm&o=i&c=e
Contemporary STEAM Street Art
50 Street Art Lesson Plan Ideas - Middle & High School ::
I compiled and presented this packet of street art lesson plan ideas for art teachers at the Fall 2015 Pennsylvania Art Education Association Conference:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1Pz2_imbTQOZllfMnBBY0dNQWs/view?usp=sharing and have expanded it to include STEAM elements upon it, to present "STEAM on the Street" at the Fall 2017 PAEA Conference.
Global Savvy
To Ukraine from America, with Love- Middle & High School ::
I contacted the Memory Project and they connected us with 20 youth from Ukraine who have experienced trauma, and my art students drew portraits of the children to send as gifts. Some of these children have lost parents or family members to the fighting, while others have seen the violence first hand before being evacuated from the embattled region. https://youtu.be/MT8BxT2H2cE
Diverse Literacies
Masks, Puppets, and Storytelling- Elementary School ::
These lessons have included various literacies: multicultural, technological, social, kinesthetic, cross-curricular, as well as with artistic materials and techniques.

Documenting School Pride
Highlighting Earth Day :: I created this video for a school celebrating Earth Day. The principal needed someone to capture the event and I took the job with the agreement I could use the link on my online portfolio, I was also paid. I had a partner help capture extra footage of the day because there was so much going on I didn't want to miss anything.
Art and Diplomacy
To Russia With Love :: Drawing and sending portraits to Russia when news headlines of Cold War & WW3 made giving our art a diplomatic act. My favorite response from Russia equates an "old fairy tale (about millions of boys and foxes becoming the only boy and fox for each other") with our gift of portraits to their neediest youth, stating, "You drew us and sent us your picture, we are no longer strangers... Despite all of the problems we can still share love, happiness, be friends, and understand each other... This is unforgettable... This project is a line connecting our countries, we will always have this... for peace, kindness, understanding, and global friendship." This is a fine example of art and people's diplomacy.
Light, Music, & Sculptural Installations
Contemporary Art Collaborations :: As a responsible Arts and Cultural Practitioner, I ensure my students have opportunities to practice 21st century skills, such as: opportunities to collaborate with each other, see their visual culture as opportunities, and to be able to create art installations which completely change their learning environment into an exhibition space. My goal is to better prepare them with creative problem-solving skills. https://vimeo.com/313810962

ITAG Talk: Makerspace Escape Room
https://vimeo.com/506778194/e31c384ce4
I presented virtually at the Iowa Talented and Gifted conference 2021 on how to create an Escape Room (Experience or Short Film) Story with my talented and gifted students in our Makerspace. I encouraged conference participants to use what they have and gave them tips on the tech we used. The film is at the end.
